Properly planning a kitchen project is vital for anyone who is looking to make home improvements to their property.

This is the suggestion of industry expert George Clark, who said eating areas are the “most important spaces” for the majority of residences.

“You have to think about exactly what your family needs, so start by listing out all of your requirements,” he advised.

These included judging how much worktop space is required, whether a kitchen island is desired and whether the dining room table set will go in food-preparation environments or in a separate part of the house.

“The one practical thing, even in this market, would be to add space,” Mr Clark explained, noting that an extension will always be good value for money.
